'Only boil what you need' is one of the most common tips for saving energy in the home and at the office - and for good reason. If everyone in the UK only boiled the amount of water they actually needed we would save enough electricity to run virtually every streetlight in the nation.

But it is not always easy to follow this advice. Sometimes we forget, other times we are in too much of a hurry for accurate measurement and there are occasions when many of us simply can't be bothered to keep filling the kettle every time we want a cuppa.

So, to make life easy for everyone, a team of inventors has come up with a brillant energy saving product called the Eco Kettle 2 (the chrome finish second generation kettle replaces the original plastic Eco Kettle).

The 1.5-litre Eco Kettle has two chambers, one for heating the water in and the other to act as a reservoir. Users fill this second chamber to the top and then press a valve which slowly releases water into the first kettle, making it quick and easy to choose the exact amount they need. If lots of hot water is required, users can heat both chambers simultaneously.

The environmentally-friendly Eco Kettle has been awarded the prestigious 'Recommended' mark by the Energy Saving Trust as a verified energy saving product. This is first award to be given in the EST's newly established Kettle category, and endorses the massive 31% average energy savings achieved by the Eco Kettle in independent trials.

In independent consumer trials, the standard energy saving Eco Kettle used an average of 31% less energy than any other kettle.
